Vijay Deverakonda stars in the highly anticipated Telugu action-thriller Rowdy Janardhana – sometimes spelled Rowdy Janardhan depending on who you believe. Rovin Kola is behind the wheel as director and writer of this thing, and Dil Raju and Shirish under Sri Venkateshwara Creations had the good sense to bring it to life.

Given his last few movies, Vijay Deverakonda is looking to make a comeback with a lot of grit, something that’ll definitely appeal to the masses, with a whole lot of raw violence and a story thats very much rooted in the 80’s down in Kalingapatnam (which is in the East Godavari region of course) – basically the story of a fella called Janardhana who got a pretty rough deal growing up and it made him into this ‘monster’, a real wild card with a temperament that borders on extreme. What’s interesting is a lot of the regular folks in this movie call themselves “Rowdy” too, but for Vijay’s character, its a whole different story – he claims its his real name and makes darn tootin’ sure of it.

National Award winning actress Keerthy Suresh takes on the lead role. Whispers suggest that Rashmika Mandanna, Krithi Shetty & Rajasekhar are all set to join in supporting roles, but nothing’s been officially confirmed just yet. And then, on December 22 2025, the big reveal: a title and first look were finally shared with the public, to great excitement. Check out Vijay though – you’ll barely even recognise him: in this rough-cut, blood-soaked version he’s lost all his signature Telangana charm – instead he’s rocking a lungi, a machete, long hair & a thick beard, giving off a pretty savage vibe. Not to mention he’s ditched his Telangana twang for an East Godavari accent

In this brief teaser Vijay’s character is starkly contrasted with this demon, finishing off with a tagline that’s basically saying: Vijay is the ultimate ‘Rowdy’ This stuff is shaping up to be a real showstopper.

Vijay’s next big one is (reportedly) due for December 2026 release and its billed as a Pan-India flick – think Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada & Malayalam. Expect all sorts of high-octane action and deep emotional stuff, and a top-shelf team behind it too – Anend C Chandran is on camera duty & Cristo Xavier is scoring the music. Fans are calling it Vijay’s “rowdy redemption” … we’ll keep you posted !
